*swoons*
Today was amazing! I went back to Providence Place Mall for the third time in a week, this time to finally meet The Academy Is... and The Cab on their Hello My Name Is tour at Hot Topic. I got there a few hours early and got in line - I was towards the front. I ended up befriending this cool guy named Zack who pretty much could write a book on meeting celebs. Among the people an
d bands he's met: David Archuleta, Colbie Caillat, We The Kings, The Maine, Demi Lovato, All Time Low, T.I., Boys Like Girls, Aly and AJ, Ayla Brown, Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus (he bumped into her on the street and she flipped him off - I can believe that) and like a million more people I can't remember. I wouldn't have believed him if he didn't whip out his camera and show me photographic evidence. I know who I'm calling next time I want to get backstage! After a while, they let everyone with wristbands go in for a private performance, which sucked because to get one, you had to be one of the first 30 people to buy a T-shirt or CD last Friday. I wasn't there at opening so.... waaaaaahhh! We could still hear it though. Very muffled. But still audible.
So then we got to go in. We were allowed to take pics in like but not once we were at the table with the band, which was incredibly stupid. So we were snapping away when we noticed a guy off to the corner chatting with security. He looked kind of familiar before Zack asked me if he was Nick from A Rocket to the Moon. We went up and asked him and sure enough, he was! Not many people recognized him so he wasn't barricaded off or anything, he was chillin out. He was SO incredibly nice. He gave me a HUGE hug. We took pictures with him and he even called Zack's obsessed friend on my phone! Finally it was our turn to meet William Beckett and Adam Siska of The Academy Is... and Ian Crawford and Alex DeLeon of The Cab. Security warned us that we weren't allowed to "touch them" at all. No hugs, handshakes, high fives, whatever. So basically you could only just talk. Zack asked Alex if he was really dating Demi Lovato. He looked down shyly and laughed before saying, "You can take my laugh as an answer." You heard it here first folks.
I was absolutely fine until I locked eyes with William. I froze and I think my heart skipped a beat or two. So not fair. I managed to squeak out a hello and introduced myself. He laughed and shook my hand. He asked me if things were hectic outside for me and I replied, no, just nerve-wracking. He was all like awwww at my honesty and gave me a high five. I think the Hot Topic manager was going to pop a vein from all the contact I was supposed to be restricted from, but frankly, I couldn't care less.
I suppose I got a little special treatment bc I was kind of a change from the rest of the crowd there, which was made up of mallrats who were all maybe 15 at the oldest. One of the Hot Topic employees even remarked that he was surprised that I was the only "older" kid. Pffft more attention for me! Anwyay it was kind of an unrealistic representation of their dem
ographic. Anyway, I wanted my name tag signed to put on the signed posters and security was being a little bitch about it because you could only have one item signed. You could have them all sign one CD case or poster, etc. I was like, I'm putting the sticker on the poster so its not like I'm gonna have two signed items to auction off on ebay or anything. The whole thing was ridiculous. William, aka my knight in shining armor, told the guy to take a chill pill and put the sticker on the poster himself. He was so laid back, as were the other guys. I'm so proud to report that they are just as humble as they are shmexy. Here's what I got! Both posters are signed, although it's a little hard to see on The Cab's.
